
Our firm is delighted to announce that Michael A. Gottlieb, P.A., was honored with the esteemed Harry Gulkin Award in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on September 24th, 2025. This annual award from the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) acknowledges a Florida Bar member who embodies integrity, civility, and excellence in law.
The award is named after a respected Florida prosecutor and judge who transitioned to private practice, representing several notable clients. Since 1992, the FACDL has recognized individuals who exemplify the qualities and character of Mr. Gulkin.
Mr. Gottlieb has over 30 years of experience in criminal defense throughout Florida and the nation. He started his career in the legal system with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and later worked as an Assistant Broward County Public Defender. He graduated from Nova Southeastern University Law School in 1993 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from The George Washington University.
In Broward County, Florida, Mr. Gottlieb has handled thousands of cases and led over 150 criminal jury trials to verdict. His successful defense work includes acquittals in cases such as:
- First-degree murder
- Attempted murder of a law enforcement officer
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- DUI
- Manslaughter and other charges
Additionally, Mr. Gottlieb is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) and the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (BACDL).
