Man Faces DUI After Driving His Lawn Mower While Intoxicated

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2017 | Drunk Driving

When you think of a drunk driver, you probably think of someone in a car or truck. You don’t think of people riding their bikes, using a skateboard or riding on a lawn mower. In fact, you might even think someone drinking a beer is fairly common while they mow their lawns.

As true as that is, driving a lawn mower while intoxicated can still get you into trouble with the law. A man has found that out in Florida after driving recklessly on his lawn mower while driving with a case of beers.

The Florida man has received a DUI charge for driving drunk. According to the Nov. 8 news, the man was arrested on the suspicion of drunk driving after the St. Lucie Police stopped him for having a pack of Budweiser on the side of his lawnmower.

He was pulled over by police on the 10400 block of U.S. 1, and police claim he smelled of alcohol. In their update, it states that the man was driving erratically when he was stopped. After a DUI investigation, it was discovered that the man had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over three times the legal limit.

Lawn mowers are, technically, motor vehicles. Like other types of vehicles, you need to be in control of a lawnmower to prevent accidents. Although lawn mowers aren’t generally allowed on the roadways, that hasn’t come up as a problem in this case. Instead, the police are focusing on the way the man was driving, not on the where. Remember, you can be stopped this way, too, and if so, it’s a good idea to defend yourself quickly.
